Explore Traverse City
I grew up in Traverse City. I can remember swimming in Grand Traverse Bay, eating ice cream at Bardon's, my mom taking me to the Cherry Festival parades, and so much more. Living in the same community I grew up in gives me an appreciation for its history and the promise of its future. As a continual resident of this beautiful locale I do find that as I go through my day, I am not tuned in to all its beauty. It has turned into something that I take for granted. As I think about my town and all its memories, I am inspired to paint this area and see it in a new way. I want to open my eyes to locations and areas and see it through new eyes; through the eyes of a painter and artist. My goal this summer is to paint as many scenes as possible "en plein air" (painting outside). Are there locations that are significant? Are there locations that we keep coming back to over and over again? It may be for its beauty, its mystery, its history, or its impact on our very soul. I would like to explore these locations, and with the public's help, I would like recommendations on what areas of Traverse City they find meaningful. Send me your ideas!
